At ARTISTA, connecting with nature does not require a scheduled activity. It happens when morning light enters the villa, when Monteverde’s breeze moves through an open window, or when the sounds of the forest become part of the room.

That is the idea behind ARTISTA’s biophilic approach: bringing architecture, nature and wellbeing together so that the surrounding environment becomes an active part of the stay.

The villas incorporate immersive forest views, natural light, passive ventilation and constant contact with Monteverde’s sounds, scents, textures and changing atmospheric conditions. Even some windows include subtle visual elements that make the glass more perceptible to birds, helping reduce the risk of collisions.

The placement of the villas also responds to the landscape. Their arrangement draws inspiration from Monteverde’s traditional Quaker homes, historically set within the forest rather than organized around roads and vehicles. Paths and connections follow the same philosophy, adapting more organically to the site’s microtopography.

Wellbeing grows naturally from these choices. Interior lighting is warm, low-intensity and adjustable, ventilation is predominantly natural, and materials, textiles and finishes were selected with comfort, health and indoor environmental quality in mind.

More than 75% of the spaces have access to natural light and outdoor views, and 100% of indoor spaces are smoke-free.

Binoculars and bird guides, sleep, journaling and art kits, spaces for contemplation and writing, and the intentional absence of televisions extend that philosophy into the guest experience.

At ARTISTA, nature and wellbeing are not separate parts of the experience. The way we build, the materials we choose, the art within each space, and the villas’ relationship with the forest all reflect the same idea: creating an experience deeply connected to place.
